“Our guide is named Faustus 2 (Deuce) and he was excellent. He literally gave us all the information we needed in three different languages - English / Spanish / French. I was really impressed with his ability to ensure we all felt included and had the information we needed. There were a lot of people on the tour so he was good at controlling the group and getting us from Point A to B. I enjoyed seeing the city and his recommendations on where to shop. ”
“My girlfriend and I lived at the "Occidental Caribe Punta Cana", the first day we arrived we met our "Blue Travel partner" Jonathan.. he welcomed us with a big smile and a good handshake. We talked with him and said that we wanted a trip to "Scape Park" and a Sightseeing Trip to Santo Domingo" He instantly gave us some good advices and some good prices.. My girlfriend and I got really trustfully with Jonathan because he understood us correctly and was not a "Pushy" person, we really liked that he let us talk and gave som professionel answers to our questions. Our trip to "Scape Park" and "Sightseeing to Santo Domingo" where just as expected but even better because Jonathan gave us the correct information and professionally guided trip to Santo Domingo.. Big applause to Blue Travel and especially Jonathan for his GOOD work!! When we get back to The Dominican Republic, we are again booking our trips through Jonathan and Blue Travel!!! - Greeting Philipp and Maria from Denmark!”
“Tuesday 16th April and we travelled, by coach, from our hotel RIU Palace Macao to Santo Domingo for our tour of the Old Colonial Zone of the City. The cost of the tour was $125 each, but we booked through the Tui Rep in resort and we received a 10% discount, so the total cost was $225. The tour was called "Santo Domingo Exclusive" and was provided by Blue Travel Partner Services. Our Guide's name was Kevin, even though he wore a shirt with Tui on the back, he was full of useful information, very knowledgeable, a great Guide. Our pick up time was 7.00am from our hotel reception and we arrived around 10.00am, a journey time of 3 hours, which included a 15 minute pit stop. We toured around the cobbled streets of the 15th Century city by train and on foot. We visited ancient buildings as Basilica Cathedral of Santa María la Menor *, Alcazar de Colón *,National Pantheon* and so many more. We took a Tour around the Colonial Chu Chu*, a street train that wound it's way around the narrow streets of the City past a variety of sights. We also experienced a 4D cinema at The Colonial Gate 4D Cinema *, telling the story of how Francis Drake captured the City, really interesting. Following that we tasted rum at Museo del Ron y la Cana *. We strolled along the ancient cobbled streets like Calle Las Damas *, Calle El Conde * where we saw numerous statues commemorating famous and historical figures of the Dominican Republic, including Bartolome de Colón *, Salome Urena de Henriquez*. Loved the doll statues along Calle El Conde. Our walk took us through Plaza de Colón and Plaza de Espana. We had brief stops along the way to enjoy sights like Reloj del Sol*, the old sundial and the small tranquil park of Plaza María de Toledo* We stopped for lunch at the Atarazana Resturant* where some entertainment, traditional dancing, was put on. Having completed the tourist part of the Tour we had about half an hour of free time to explore further or to relax before catching the coach at 15.00 back to our hotel in Playa Arena Gorda, which we reached at about 18.30. It was a long day, with a long time on the bus, which was really comfortable and good to travel in, but it was worth it to see the historic City and soak up the atmosphere of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. * denotes reviewed separately on TripAdvisor.”
“You will end up spending 6-7 hours on bus for 4 hours tour (lunch and shopping included), it was a very mediocre trip at best. It's not worth the time and money. I'd rather spend the day at the beach or do something else. The day starts with picking up from the hotel around 7 AM and taking you to a meeting point where we you'll be put on another bus. The whole process takes 3-3.5 hrs before you get to the historic place. You will end up wake up at 6 AM and coming back at 6:30 PM. Only interesting part was the Cathedral (oldest in the Americas). Bottom line: Long and tedious day! Skip it unless you are too much into history and have a whole day to throw away (and $100 per person). The prices at the souvenir shops where ridiculously priced, 3 to 4 times of that was in the resort gift shops. I guess you are expected to haggle. ”
“We booked through Blue travel partner services in the Lobby of our hotel ( Majestic Colonial)& used our Costco travel voucher. We booked the “ ZONA COLONIAL- SANTO DOMINGO “ day tour. @ 6am, we were ( family of 5) picked up infront of our hotel by a small van ( there were 7 others inside the van) . We were dropped off @ the blue travel partner services main office about 15 minutes drive from our hotel & there were other tourists waiting there already. We waited for a few minutes for the tour bus to arrive. First stop was- the tobacco & chocolate factory, then headed off to the underground cave ( people in that area where they sell local stuffs were way too pushy. It made me NOT wanting to buy anything anymore because I was pulled & pushed by those vendors) . The highlights of our tour was going through the city of Santo Domingo. There, you’ll learn about so many fascinating facts about their history. Learned about Christopher Columbus ‘ lighthouse, the palace of his son “ Diego Columbus “ , the first basilica cathedral in the Americas, went to their president’s palace, walked through the Ozama Fortress ( vendors will approach you there, but they’re not as pushy as the ones by the cave area so, I got to buy lots of stuffs from 2 different vendors selling hats( 3 for $25) ,punta cana bags( $10 each ),refrigerator magnets & key chains ( $1 each! Bought a lot of those as it’s too pricey @ the hotel store)make sure to haggle with their overpriced merchandise specially if you’re buying more than 2 or 3 items. We had a late lunch by the Fortress. While eating,we were entertained by a couple of local awesome dancers. A wonderful break after that very long & hot day walking under the sun. After our lunch, we did more walking & touring around the Colonial Zone, then stopped @ a store where they will give you @ least 45 minutes to do a little shopping. Our tour guide’s name was Johnny! He speaks Spanish, French & English! Since there’s a French family in our bus, he was speaking 3 languages inside the bus! My only complaint was..., he’s always translating everything in English lastly! Perhaps because there were more Spanish speaking tourists than English speaking tourists inside that bus., @ the end of our tour ( it was dark already) we stopped somewhere in the middle of nowhere! Apparently, the tour guide /host needed to get out already in that area so we were left with just the driver with full of tourists for a good another 40 minutes of driving heading towards another interesting final stop ( not the main office of the blue travel, but it’s along a highway) . Fortunately, the blue van that dropped us off in the morning were already waiting for us to our final stop. Really! That’s a very strange set up! ... we should’ve been dropped off & picked up @ the same location. Anyways, although it was a very long day for us, the tour in the city was magnificent!”
