“Start time shows 6:30am- we were picked up 7;40am by a van with 5 other people. When we arrived to get boat- the guide paid for a speed boat cash and argued with person getting it set up. The boat ride was horrible. No cushions one side rail was missing. I was looking forward to historical discussion about island- we never got. We went to beach and was told we had 30 min to enjoy - which ended up being a couple hours on dirty fly and insect covered chairs. The ocean was nice- the lunch was horrible. Then we got back on boat it kept shutting off. The snorkeling was near a pier that had come part rusted. The boat didn’t have a good exit or entry point so I was unable to snorkel or look for the three starfish at the next stop that were passed between boat to boat. We never saw pelicans. turtles. or most of what the description mentioned. I was highly disappointed and if this was my first viator experience I would never use it again. The guide spoke what sounded like Russian to the other passengers and they talked the entire time and I was unable to interrupt her to ask any questions etc. The van on way back had little air conditioning and I was never happier to get back to our resort. My VIP tour deserves a refund. I was never happier than when i returned to our resort. DO NOT USE THIS VENDOR. ”

“If you get the right guide I’m sure it’s a lovely day in beautiful surroundings but sadly we didn’t!. The party of 15 people consisted of all lovely Ukrainian people and us (4 friends from Uk) from the start we felt very ostracised and left out as everyone was speaking Ukrainian … Specifically the host! He made little effort to speak English to us and we had to even rely on other passengers to translate the instructions he was giving even when they were safety instructions regarding our trip. He made little effort to speak English when telling our group about the area and eco surroundings.l and when he did attempt English it was very poor. To be perfectly honest it spoilt our day and we felt very left out. The return journey really didn’t need to consist of a shop stop over for 20 mins when we were all sat in wet clothes and swimwear. Even when the bus was almost empty he just made no effort to ask if we had had a good day he just continued to speak to the other passengers laughing and joking while we sat in silence in the back. ”

“Our trip to Saona Island was honestly one of the best experiences we’ve ever had—especially traveling with kids. From start to finish, everything felt smooth, safe, and completely stress-free, which is exactly what you want when you’re with family. What really stood out was how private and exclusive the whole experience felt. It never felt crowded or chaotic, which made it so much easier to relax and actually enjoy the day. The kids had plenty of space to play, explore, and just be themselves without us worrying. The beach itself was absolutely breathtaking—crystal-clear turquoise water, soft white sand, and calm waves that were perfect for little ones. And the natural pool was such a highlight! Being able to walk out into shallow, warm water in the middle of the ocean was incredible, and the kids loved spotting starfish and splashing around safely. A special shoutout to our guide, Sergio—he was so patient, kind, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire trip. He made sure everyone was comfortable, answered all our questions, and truly went above and beyond to make the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was the perfect mix of beauty, relaxation, and family-friendly fun. If you’re looking for a peaceful, private escape that still works beautifully with kids, Saona Island is 100% worth it.”
