“My 18 yr old daughter and I wanted to experience this part of Punta Cana that had mixed reviews. I didn't want the loud music, but I wore earplugs. We decided to go on New Year's Eve, which was admittedly crazy busy. The PROS were that we had a private driver take us from CapCana and felt very safe getting there and even once we were there the whole vibe felt very Vegas like/or almost a small Times Square feeling. People were, nice, well dressed and not crazy. Seems like there were a lot of locals there. If you don't get the VIP package, you're gonna wait in line for an hour, but we felt like it was Disneyland, so that was fine. They're also a bunch of bars and restaurants outside of Coco Banco so you wouldn't even have to go in you could just hang out there. We were able to get a Chipotle type quick dinner before we went in as well at 'Mr. Mike's'. ALSO, ONCE INSIDE, EVERYBODY WAS GENUINELY FRIENDLY, and the shows were pretty cool to be able to see the performance up close and had a Cirque du Soleil feel. And it went on for like three hours, which was really neat in between the dancing. They also had an amazing selection of both American and Latin and the dancing was really fun if you could find a spot to dance in lol. The CONS: not being able to move because it was so crowded. You were squeezed in with people so if you have claustrophobia, this is not a good place to go. My daughter wasn't concerned about that so we managed to push our way through to the center and even danced on an elevated stage, which was a lot of fun. We also stood on the steps which gave you room to to breathe. But if you want to be elevated, you have to pay extra then you can sit on the outside in the upper sides and just watch all of the craziness in the pit. The music was so loud I'm sure my daughter has hearing loss but the earplugs helped me a lot. Trying to get drinks was impossible because it was so crowded and definitely overpriced and it said unlimited drinks but you couldn't even get to the bar but it was fine because I don't drink that much. The biggest drawback was towards the end after the New Year's celebration, some of the dancers and some of the party goers got pretty risqué, and they showed them on video and after a while we just decided to leave. Probably not to Mardi Gras level and it's probably just a cultural thing but it was unnecessary. Overall, we're glad we went and experienced it but I wouldn't go back again.”
