“Worst place I’ve visited in my life! The way the tour was painted was nothing like what we experienced. It took us about 4.5 hours to get to the island. We were moved around in a huge group, which ruined any chance of experiencing the peace or beauty of the island. There were an unbelievable number of groups all heading to the island on multiple boats. The wait to get on a boat was extremely disorganized, long, and hot. The catamaran ride was 2 hours long, and half of the group had to stay under the sun. Only water, coke, and mamajuana were offered on the way there. Thankfully, we ate at the hotel beforehand. Once you get to the island, the group is transferred to a smaller boat which takes you all the way to the island. They drop you off on the sand. The whole beach was full of rocks and gasoline from all the boats dropping people off. Disgusting doesn’t even come close to it. There are several buffet stations, one for each group that gets to the island. We were offered spaghetti (which tasted like Chef Boyardee), chicken, some weird rice, and salad. $5 for a beer. Only water and soda are included in the price you pay! We had about 90 minutes on the island itself, but it was so crowded it was difficult to explore or appreciate. There was only one bathroom with three stalls for the whole place. Toilets had to be manually flushed with a bucket of water every so often. There’s no shower to rinse off, only a bucket of water. Overall, an expensive, long day which unfortunately was spoiled by overcrowding and many opportunities to try to rip you off with an expensive photo! Unfortunately, I would not recommend the day trip. Stay away unless you want to cry and be miserable.”
